Why Does My Song Go on a Topic Channel?

When your song is released on YouTube Music, it may be placed under a "Topic Channel" instead of your own artist channel. This happens due to YouTube's automated system for music distribution. Here’s why:

1. No Official Artist Channel (OAC) Linked

  • If you don’t have an Official Artist Channel (OAC), YouTube automatically places your music under a Topic Channel (e.g., “Artist Name - Topic”).

  • This is a default system used by YouTube to organize and distribute music for artists without an OAC.

2. YouTube’s Automated Distribution

  • YouTube receives music from distributors and assigns it to Topic Channels if there’s no verified artist profile.

  • This ensures the song is still available on YouTube Music, even without an Official Artist Channel.

  • Having an OAC prevents your music from being placed on a Topic Channel, ensuring all your content appears under your official channel.

What is an Official Artist Channel (OAC)?

An Official Artist Channel (OAC) on YouTube is a verified and unified channel that combines:

✅ Your personal YouTube channel

✅ Your music content (from YouTube Music)

✅ Your Topic Channel content

Benefits of OAC:

  • All your music is under one official channel (instead of Topic Channels).

  • You get a verified music note badge next to your name.

  • You can customize your channel and control how your music appears.

  • Your releases get better visibility on YouTube Music.

How to Get an Official Artist Channel (OAC)?

To upgrade to an OAC, you need to meet these criteria:

1️⃣ Have at least 3 official releases on YouTube Music.

2️⃣ Own and operate an active artist YouTube channel.

3️⃣ Ensure your YouTube channel name matches your artist name.

4️⃣ After 3 songs are approved through One Music Records, you will be eligible for an OAC upgrade.

Important Notes:

  • Make sure your plan includes OAC; otherwise, you won’t be eligible.

  • Ensure you have provided us with your YouTube channel link during registration.

Your 3-song approval count will start from the moment we receive your YouTube channel link.
